Staff training

Throughout their employment our staff receive additional training including:

  • catering skills and professional cookery
  • nutrition and healthy eating
  • food safety
  • food allergens
  • health and safety
  • customer care

For training, we have five food excellence and skills training kitchens across North Yorkshire. All our catering is monitored to ensure meals are safe, of high quality and value for money.

How are standards monitored?

All our catering is monitored to ensure all our meals are safe, high quality and value for money. Monitoring officers visit each school unannounced at least twice a year to carry out a kitchen audit. In addition, district council environmental health officers regularly inspect our school kitchens.
