New Manchester Fayre Menu!

09 June 2017

At Manchester Fayre we are continually looking for ways to improve our service. Last year we asked our customers (parents, teachers, governors and not least pupils) for feedback about our catering service. Parents and pupils said that they were keen to see the choice of food improve, and some parents also expressed concern that their child was always having the same food, often being pasta or a jacket potato. As a result of this valuable feedback, we have developed a new menu concept that aims to improve flexibility with the menu choices, so that our Catering Manager’s who know their customers best, can select menu options that they know will be enjoyed by children in their school.

We are currently pilot testing the new menu concept in a number of schools across the city and will be gathering feedback from pupils and school staff about the popularity of the new menu. This will help to inform and develop the choices, so that the menu can ultimately be rolled out to all of the schools in which we provide the catering service.

Here is a flavour of the new menu:

World Food Wednesday

Meal Choice 1

Unit Manager prepares and serves one of the following meal choices:

Southern Style Chicken

Tandoori Chicken

 Meal Choice 2

Unit Manager prepares and serves one of the following meal options:

Chickpea & Potato Curry

Quorn Fajita

Meal Choice 3

Unit Manager prepares and serves one of the following meal options:

Cheese & Potato Quesadilla

Mediterranean Shells

Each meal choice is served with accompaniments and a choice of second course, including fruit and yoghurt. The daily seasonal salad bar remains a popular feature at lunch time.

We have planned the new menu format to ensure that we offer food that pupils would like to eat and continue to exceed the current standards for school meals - in the last year alone we’ve removed 62% of added sugar from our menus, which equates to 100,000 bags of sugar!

If you have any questions relating to the menu or catering service that we provide, in the first instance please speak to the Unit Manager in the kitchen.
